FEBRUARY REMINDERS

Greetings! 

The teachers truly appreciated the parents who turned the fundraising monies in on time, and if you were at the parents meeting, those who went the extra mile of collecting more than the minimum $125, your child’s teacher salute you!  J  All students (primary grades) who turned their money in last Friday will get to choose a treat out of the spell-a-thon prize jar today!

SCHOOL CALENDAR:

Tuesday, February 14:        Happy Valentine’s Day!
                                       Valentine’s Day parties will occur in each classroom.
                                       Students will need to bring a lunch unless you purchased a hot lunch!
                                       School will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, February 16:      FREE DRESS for students whose parents attended the meeting on
                                       February 4.
                                       Teachers received a list of students eligible last week.

Friday, February 17:          Teachers’ In-service Day
                                       NO SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS

Monday, February 20:        Presidents’ Day 
                                       NO SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS

Friday, February 24:          Parent/Teacher Conferences
                                       Noontime Dismissal (K-4)
                                       Students on the 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM schedule will
                                       be dismissed at noontime.
                                               
Tuesday, February 28:        Pre-registration due for 2012/2013

Friday, March 3:                Parents’ Club meeting @ 7:30 p.m. in the chapel.
                                       Refreshments will be served in the Fellowship afterwards. Teddy Bears                                              and Lion Cubs will be entertaining us! J Childcare is available.

Saturday, March 24:            Spaghetti Dinner/Auction Chabot College 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

 DAYCARE FORMS (K-4) Friday, February 24:  School will be dismissed at noon on this day.  Daycare is available for those students who have signed up ahead of time.  The forms are due at school Wednesday, February 15!

PRE-REGISTRATION for the 2012/2013 school year is Tuesday,
February 28! The deadline for the 2011/2012 school year is fast approaching.  Please remember that the $100 or $150 (depending on primary-grade level) registration fee must accompany registration paper.

VCR on FRIDAYS:  Thank you to Mrs. Menez who has volunteered to watch the primary grade students during the teachers’ staff meeting.  We appreciate the extra help Mrs. Menez!

SPAGHETTI/APPRECIATION DINNER:  We could use our parent power to help with cooking the sauce/noodles, or to donate bake goods, lumpia, or eggrolls for our dinner. 

“Fun” raising ~ Raffle Tickets:  Raffle tickets will come home with students on Monday, February 13!  (Primary grades) Tickets will be sent home in the newsletter envelope along with the weekly news.  As mentioned at the parents’ club meeting on February 3rd, monies raised from the tickets have been earmarked for playground improvement projects, the purchase of computer software, and media equipment.  All of our students will benefit from these funds! Therefore, we are asking ALL parents to participate in selling the tickets.  There are prizes to be won as well; first place is an iPad, second place is $300, and third place is $100!!!! 

AUCTION ADVERTISEMENT:  If you have a small business, why not advertise it in the auction booklet?  Perhaps the company you work for provides a service that could be advertised as well.  Let them know that in the past two years, nearly three hundred people have attended this fundraiser. It is inexpensive and a great way to let others know about your business or service that your company provides.  Please see Mrs. Stump or Mrs. Bland for an advertisement, sponsorship, or solicitation letter.

THE BASIC FUND SCHOLARSHIP (K-4):  The Basic Fund Scholarship is a tuition-assistant program for families with students who are attending a private school for the first time.  You may download an application at www.basicfund.org.
We have had families receive funds through this organization. 

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES in the afternoon on Friday, February 24
(K - 4):    You will be hearing from your child’s teacher next week if she feels a
conference is needed regarding your child’s progress in school.  It is important
that you are on time for your conference.  Please make certain that the teacher
knows if you are unable to make the scheduled conference.  If you are late, it will
be necessary to reschedule so as not to infringe on another parent’s time. School
will be dismissed at 12 noon on this day.  There will be daycare for full-time
kindergartners and for students who sign up.

DAYCARE (K-4) on Friday, February 24:  If you will need childcare on this day, you must sign up for it.  Please fill out the attached sheet and return it to school by Wednesday, February 15.
