Lion Cubs 2nd year Preschool News

About Preschool

Hello Lion Cub Parents!

Wow---we survived the month of January! Not only did we have to get back into a school routine, we also had to deal with some very wet weather. Staying inside for so many days was hard, but we moved with music and exercise. Discussing the season of winter also helped us understand the necessity of all this rain.

We enter a very busy month today. February brings us a couple of special days and special activities. This short month also has some extra days off from school. Please watch the calendar!

We will prepare for and celebrate 2 fun days at school---the 100th Day of School and St. Valentine’s Day. The 100th Day will be observed with a school assembly in which all classes will share something about the number 100. We have been counting the days of school since day 1. 100 is a big number! The class is learning a song and will perform it for everyone at the assembly on February 3rd. St. Valentine’s Day is February 14th but we'll celebrate on Friday the 12th. We will have a party and pass out valentines on that day. A note will be sent out soon with explanations and requests.

In a couple of weeks we will be on Letter P. During this week we invite the children to share their pets, or the pet of a close neighbor or relative. If the pet is caged he can sit in the classroom for the day. If the pet can’t stay perhaps mom or dad can bring it for a short visit at circle or sharing time. If an actual visit is not possible a picture to share would be welcome.

Two other significant days take place this month also. On February 6th the Kindergarten teachers will hold an information meeting. All families interested in our Kindergarten are required to attend this meeting. There will be no school on Friday, February 19th due to a Teacher Work Day. The teachers will be renewing their CPR cards. There will be a conference day on Friday February 26th---9:00-3:30 children will be dismissed at noon. More information will be out later.
