Dear Preschool Parents,
Thank you so much for your support of our Jog-a-thon. The children all felt like winners! The enthusiasm of the parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and all the K-4 children made the children feel wonderful. We really appreciate all the parents that helped out, the parents that helped set up and clean up, and especially Kylie’s grandmother who provided a nutritious snack for all the preschoolers! Information on our profit and the class winners will come out after the all the money is turned in on February 10th.
This past month the Lion Cubs toasted the New Year with apple cider. The children had fun performing at the Parent Club meeting with the Teddy Bear class. They learned about nocturnal animals, winter weather, and letters K, L, M, and N. They especially enjoyed making dragon masks and worked hard coloring, and cutting their mask project. The children learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and had a class discussion about his “dream”.
February has several special events for the preschoolers. The 100th day of school was Thursday, February 2nd. Each class prepared a presentation that had to do with the number 100. The Lion Cubs performed to the music of the Mexican Hat Dance and danced, sang, and played their castanets! There were other activities that have to do with the number 100. We culminated the assembly with streamers, counting each student in the school together. We have been keeping track of how many days of school there have been by putting up each number in groups of 10. That means we are ready to count to 100 by tens!
This Saturday, February 4th, there will be a meeting in the Kindergarten classroom to provide information to those interested in our kindergarten. This is a required meeting for kindergarten entrance. At least on parent must attend. The meeting will begin at 1:00 pm and child care will be offered for those who need it. Please ask if you have any questions.
February’s parent club meeting is this Friday. Come and hear what is new in the school. The Teddy Bear class and Lion Cub class will perform at the Parent Club meeting Friday, March 2nd. All preschool parents should try to attend. The preschool classes will be hosting the meeting and will provide snacks. A sign up will be posted later in the month. It is a wonderful way to see the talents of the children in the school and to meet other parents. We will be discussing the upcoming Spaghetti Dinner and Auction and other school events. There will be refreshments and time to socialize in the Fellowship Hall. Please come!
Miss Jill, from the Hayward library, will be at school on Tuesday, February 21st. She will spend time with each class reading stories, singing songs, and doing critical thinking activities. The children love her and always look forward to her visits.
The Teddy Bears and Lion Cubs will celebrate Valentine’s Day with a party on Tuesday, February 14th. During the party the children will exchange Valentine cards. If you would like you child to participate in the exchange just have him/her sign the card but do not address it to anyone in particular. The children will randomly pass out the cards. If you are unfamiliar with Valentine cards we will have a sample of the cards in the classroom. There will be a sign-up for party goodies in each classroom.
The Lion Cub teachers will be holding Parent /Teacher conferences on Friday, February 24th. Conferences will be on an as needed basis or by request. More information will be coming out in a few weeks.
The teachers have seen wonderful growth and development in “our” children this year. Much of it is due to the continual support and enthusiasm we receive from you parents.
